Our History of Tradition and Innovation

Majestic is a brand of thoughtfully designed instruments for the professional, the educator, and today’s percussion student utilizing carefully constructed ideas born from both traditional percussion instrument heritage and a culture of innovation.Majestic traces its beginning to the family firm of van der Glas B.V. founded in 1921 by Willem Klazes van der Glas, the grandfather of the present proprietor Wim van der Glas. The fledgling company began in the old city center of Heerenveen, the Netherlands and sold organs, pianos and wind instruments with the production of percussion instruments following soon thereafter.In 1960 the 'Majestic' brand name was introduced for these percussion instruments. At that time drum sets were particularly popular, and many rock bands in the Netherlands and other countries used the Majestic drums in popular music.

Under a philosophy to support music education and community since 1930, KHS Musical Instruments Co., Ltd., has become one of the largest musical instrument producers in the world today. Incorporating some of the fastest growing brands in the industry, KHS can offer a full line of quality instruments to school music programs and individual players.

Van der Glas B.V 最初以 Majestic 作为爵士鼓鼓组和高阶行进鼓系列的名称，随后将 Majestic作为商标，并沿用至今。

Majestic 最经典的 Timpani 定音鼓也在当年再度回归市场，有着平衡踏板系统，以高质量的工艺与出色的声音闻名。

•
有捶打铜肚和铝肚的选择，采用抛光铜和玻璃纤维材质制成的鼓肚，与不锈钢鼓框和悬吊式装置，能够呈现纯净的音色。平衡弹簧油压式踏板稳定且易于操作，适合学校乐团与个人练习使用。

功学社并购 1979 年成立的美国专司铁木琴、管钟类乐器之制造工厂「Ross Mallet Instruments Inc.」，进一步强化功学社在打击乐器市场的产品完整性。2008 年Ross 外观全新改款，并于 2009 年全面转换为 Majestic 品牌推出全系列创新产品。

Harmonic 系列定音鼓上市。
•
为携带式定音鼓搭配易操作的平衡弹簧踏板系统，以及专利摺叠式脚轮，便于移动运输。 其悠美音色为寻找轻盈但又具有专业音色之表演者，提供了最佳选择。 没有携带式定音鼓能像 Majestic Harmonic 系列提供如此高的精确度及稳定性。

Symphonic Grand 系列定音鼓上市。
•
专为定音鼓演奏者设计，结合了稳定的Block System踏板与手调式和踏式音准微调。 与Grand Classic 系列同样采用特殊精密的铜合金与手工鳞状敲打深弧型鼓肚，与不锈钢鼓框与鼓肚采用悬吊式装置。 鼓肚可依演奏需求选购无打点与标准打点两种选择。 前轮无锁装置之踏板，采用轻压设计，踏板采用独特的调音装置，即使是演奏时也能透过踏板调音。 此系列亦还有二个隐藏式脚轮在踏板处，以便于移动。

专为职业级定音鼓演奏者所设计，采用特殊精密的铜合金与手工鳞状敲打深弧型鼓肚，弧形及深度均经过周密精算，不锈钢鼓框与鼓肚采用悬吊式装置，使共鸣更加集中、音色纯净。

功学社在天津成立打击乐器厂，刚开始时生产 Mallet Instruments 零件，逐步生产至组件，进而生产成品，以及自行研发新产品。

2003

功学社并购荷兰Majestic品牌，设立「Majestic Holland B.V.」，专责室内与行进打击乐器制造与销售，促使 Majestic 品牌在国际发展与推广；同时在海伦芬作为定音鼓制造生产原厂，保持荷兰优良的乐器制造传统。
•
随着美国校园打击乐的蓬勃发展，Ross mallet instruments 木琴改为出租方式大量推广，成为市场上第一个在美国出租木琴的品牌。

打击事业部组织成立。

开发 Majestic 品牌行进鼓全规格三个系列，分别是 XTD、EVDEAVOR、CONTENDER。
•
音板设计延用美国 ROSS 马林巴木琴技术，也使得 Majestic 品牌有了立奏琴产品，由功学社集团天津打击乐器厂生产。

Prophonic系列定音鼓上市。
•
Prophonic 系列具有如 Symphonic 系列专业优良的音质，也有如Harmonic 系列运输便利的特点。Prophonic 系列解决了过往演奏者面临专业音质与运输方式难以取舍的问题，并另外附有平衡式踏板系统，易于操作。
•
推出 Majestic室内大鼓（Philharmonic Pro & Concert Pro series）系列。

室内大鼓改款（Prophonic & Concert Black series）上市。
•
沿用Ross音板设计与木琴生产技术，于majestic品牌推出于全世界。
•
推出 M6543D Concert Marimba 花梨木低音木琴。 此木琴采用的是花梨木音板，轻量化的脚架与共鸣管 (非满管)，具有非常实惠的价格，使其在市场上的反应非常良好。

Concert 系列上市。
•
此系列定音鼓具有轻巧的便携性和高度调节的扩展范围。适合初学者。具有弹簧辅助座式踏板系统，踏板与脚架皆可伸缩摺叠，便于运输。
•
全系列定音鼓研发完成。
•
推出 M8650H Professional marimba 五个八度音玫瑰木低音木琴。 此型号采用精心挑选的高级玫瑰木音板，半音侧音板的圆弧导角可以让演奏时更顺畅，此系列的特点还有因应庞大琴身所设计的加强型脚架，能使琴身更稳定。

推出 Gateway木琴，后后续其他品牌也陆续跟进制作类似产品。 Majestic 特别将 Gateway 学生级练习琴的八度扩大到四又三分之一，接近演奏琴的规格，便于日后转换；也改良了传统脚架设计，将结构简化，使琴身可以同步升降。Gateway 系列也提供共鸣管选配，让加挂共鸣管变成了选项之一 。
